Charles M Haag

Charles M. Haag, age 90, passed away February 15, 2017.  He was born November 27, 1926 in Reading, PA to Robert and Mary Haag.

Charles graduated from Reading High School in 1944, East Stroudsburg University, and The Medical College of Virginia where he attained his certification in Physical Therapy.  Upon graduation he worked as a Physical Therapist at the Chillicothe, Ohio VA Hospital.  In 1953 he opened the Physical Therapy Department at Barberton Citizen’s Hospital where he retired as Director of the department for 35 years.  He completed his career after opening a private practice, Akron South Physical Therapy.

Charles served two years active duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He retired from the Army Reserves with the rank of Colonel in 1986.

Charles lived his profession as an exercise enthusiast.  He was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking and his Corvette.

Preceded in death by his wife, Janis Irene Haag, and sister, Anna Haag.

Survived by children, Rebecca Veres (Brad), Elizabeth Gumash (Robert), Robert Haag (Debbie), and Barbara Klein (Marty); grandchildren, Erin Donaldson (Ryan), Meredith and Chris Gumash, Sarah and Mark Klein.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant View Health Care Center for their kindness, care and support.

Funeral service will be Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave, Barberton.  Family will receive friends on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the service at the funeral home.  Private interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
