Frances Jennings, 96, of Wadsworth, died at 3:05 AM, Monday, January 8, 2018 at The Convalarium of Dublin, Ohio. She was born November 6, 1921 in Geneva, Switzerland. Frances lived her early life in the alpine village of Albertville, France, and moved to Paris in 1939 to help support her family. She worked in the garment/fashion industry in Paris throughout the German occupation of the city. Frances met Bradford W. Jennings, an American soldier, after the liberation of Paris in 1944. They were married at the American Cathedral in Paris on December 24, 1947.
After the war, Brad and Fran returned to the United States, where they lived in Massachusetts, Chicago, Philadelphia, Wadsworth, and Kansas City before returning to Wadsworth to spend their golden years. Fran loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining and having dinner parties with her friends. She had special memories of trips to France that she took with friends and family.
Frances is survived by her son Steven (Cheryl) Jennings of Dublin, Ohio; granddaughter Francoise (Jean-Louis) Durif, of Lyon, France; granddaughters Lauren and Alison Jennings of Dublin, Ohio; great-grandchildren Clement and Juliet Durif, and several cousins in southern France.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Bradford and her brother Armand, and her parents Guiseppe Conca and Arturino Mazzarino.
The visitation is from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home in Wadsworth, Ohio. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018, also at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home. Reverend Cynthia Adcock will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wadsworth Kiwanis Club.
