Irene McCloskey

Irene E. McCloskey, age 95, passed away September 12, 2016. She was born on March 3, 1921 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Steve and Rosa (nee: Kormich) Popovich. She belonged to Prince of Peace Parish, Holy Trinity, was a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scouts Pack, and was employed as a Stock room Manager at W.T. Grant Co. for 17 years.

Preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Rosa Popovich; sisters, Theresa, Vera, Margaret, Rose, and Anna; brother, Frank; son-in-law, Robert Ellis; and beloved husband, Henry G. McCloskey whom she was married to for 58 years.

Survived by children, Barbara Ellis (Robert), DavidMcCloskey (Jean Ann), Henrietta Snyder (Edward), Jean Genet (Les); many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws, Jean (Joe) McCloskey and Nancy (Larry) McCloskey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held, at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Prince of Peace Parish, 1263 Shannon Ave. Barberton, OH, with Father Robert Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends, one hour prior to Mass from 8:30-9:30a.m. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince of Peace Parish or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
