John R Havenhill

John R. Havenhill, age 84, passed away April 5, 2017. He was born on September 26, 1932 in Rochester, Pennsylvania to the late Robert and Monte Havenhill.

John was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple, he was a Pharmacist with many local retails pharmacies and retired with 10 years of service as a Pharmacist with Barberton Hospital. John served in the U.S. Army, ran a hospital pharmacy in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. He enjoyed bicycling, woodworking, and was a “quiet professor”.

Preceded in death by his sister, Winnie and grandchildren, Danny and Nicholas.

Survived by wife, Vivian; children, Eric (Barbara) of Brighton, Michigan, David of Akron, Paul (Leighsa) of Mentor, Richard (Geneva) of Barberton; grandchildren, Rebecca, Joseph, Melissa, Jonathan, Kyle, Seth, Michael, Lukinda, Patrick, and Noah; 3 great-grandchildren and Big Boy the cat.

Funeral services will be held, WEDNESDAY, at 9:00am on April 12, 2017 at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton. The family will receive friends, TUESDAY from 6:00-8:00pm at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Akron Humane Society.
