Kenneth M. O’Brien’s boat has hit the water and his sails are set for the high Heavens. He passed away suddenly, October 10th, 2017 in his home.

 

He was born on January 22nd, 1951 in Wadsworth, OH to Joseph and Madalyn O’Brien. Ken was as American as they come, being a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam War and enjoyed this great land; spending most of his time on the water fishing, in the woods hunting, or traveling to places with his beloved family. He retired from Ohio CAT in April of 2017 with over 20 years in sales management. Anyone who knew Ken would attest to his upstanding character. Ken had a contagious laugh, a smile to brighten a room, and a heart the size of Texas. Most of all, he will be missed for the love and courage he provided his friends and family.


Ken is survived by his daughters, Kerina (Greg) and Tiffany (Ryan); brothers, Don and Rob; sister in-law, Cathy (Tom) Keller, father-in-law Al (Peg) Atkins; grandsons, Stefan (Taylor) and Kristofer O’Brien; granddaughters, Shelea, Deonna, and Kyleigh Newsome; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and wealth of friends.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life and wife, Gloria; his brother and sister in-laws, Steve, Al, and Maryanna; mother in-law, Anna Black and son in-law, Shawn Newsome.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on TUESDAY, October 17, 2017 at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 1376 High Street, Wadsworth. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 10:00-12:00pm. Burial will full military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, Ohio 44273.

Family asks in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the funeral home in Ken’s name.
