M. Fern Cook Niestockel

Mildred Fern Niestockel passed away December 10, 2017. She was born in Akron, Ohio on March 22, 1918, the second of five children of Clayton J. and Marguerite (nee: Moyers) Frase. Fern graduated from Kenmore High School and lived her life in Akron, except for a ten year stint in Illinois. She was a homemaker while raising three children and then worked as a bank teller.
Fern was a caregiver to many; an expert seamstress, cook and loved to knit and crochet. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Akron.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sandra Kay Cook; husbands, William J. Cook, Sr. and Edward P. Niestockel; sons, William J. Cook Jr. and Jack E. Cook; granddaughter, Amy Cook; brothers, Eugene and Howard Frase; and sisters, Helen Harpley and June Hopkins.
Fern is survived by daughter, Nancy Daniels; grandchildren, Bill, Brian, Jon, A.Jay, Christine Cook, Tari Kern, and W.F. Duke Daniels; multiple generations of great-grandchildren; and two step-sons and their families.
The family will receive friends, WEDNESDAY, December 13, 2017, from 10:00-11:30am at the First Baptist Church of Akron, 1670 Shatto Avenue. Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:30am at the church. Rev. Jackson III and Rev. Holland will officiate. Burial will take place at Grill Cemetery, Clinton, Ohio.
