Tara Denise Kennell

Tara Denise Kennell, age 41, passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2017.

She was born on March 2, 1976 to Arthur Kennell and Karen Selman in Akron, Ohio. She attended Riedinger Middle School, obtained her GED from Barberton High School in 2001, and was the Assistant Manager at Dave’s Darn Near Anything. Tara enjoyed going on road trips, movie nights, and family dinners. She enjoyed reading novels by Stephen King and collecting Fenton Glass.

Tara was a lover of music, especially of Hed-PE and her favorite band, Mushroomhead. She attended hundreds of their concerts nationwide and also had a large collection of their masks. Tara enjoyed sharing her love of music with her daughters, and would take them to the many concerts she would attend.

To Tara, her greatest purpose in life was to help anyone and everyone in need. She was a member and chancellor of A.O.W. and was a true nurturing soul who saw the best in everyone.   

The love of family and friends was very important to Tara. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters; and treated nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She was a mother figure who was loved by all and touched the lives of many.

Preceding her in death are, her father, Arthur “Art” Kennell; uncle, Howard Frick; and brother-in-law, Joe Miller.

Tara is survived by her life- long companion, father of her children, and soul mate from the time they were 15 for the past 26 years, Dave Alcorn; their daughters, Jaimy (Dustin Ratliff), Jessica (Joe) Hill, Autumn, and Allison (Dru Britton); mother, Karen Selman; canine children, Kitty & Killer; siblings, Stephanie Miller, Kelly Selman, Shannon Kennell, Tonya Keener, Michael Kennell, Michelle Sandmann, Shane (Melissa) Selman, Jesse Williams & Jackie Kukla; brother-in-law and best friend, Dave Keener; sister-in-law, Brenda (Bryan) Henley; aunts and uncles, John & Debbie Selman, Joyce & Byron Cremeans, Steve Frick; and Karl Selman; nieces and nephews, Jason, Doug, Sharon, David, Brandon, Eric, Melissa, Michael, Donald, Kaitlynn, Justin, Bryant, Tylar, Kristina, Kourtnie, Katie, Koty, Lilly, Tyler, Tristan, Natalie, Shane Jr., Brian Jr., and Marleana; special cousins, Debbie & Mike Hartline; special “family” members, Jeremiah & Julia Stratton, Jeff & Stacy Hatrix, Mea Hatrix, Waylon & Jen Reavis, and Frank & Rachel Pauley, Alexis, Mia, and Isabella Pauley, and Tiffany & Tabby Willmer; favorite tattoo artists that were “family”, Arin Hicks, Thomas Kincaid, Jessica Haney, Kenn & Ashley Ellis, and Chadd Voshel; numerous extended family and friends worldwide.

Tara was a loving, humble and kind soul who will truly be missed by all who crossed her path.

Funeral Services will be held, TUESDAY, November 7, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Community Church of Portage Lakes, 3260 Cormany Road, Akron. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 4:00-6:00pm at the church.

Donations may be made to Cox- McNulty Funeral Home to off-set funeral costs.
