Glen Roy LaPointe Jr., born in Summit County, Ohio on March 28, 1955 to Glen Roy LaPointe and Minnie Alice LaPointe (nee Parsons), passed away on March 13, 2024, while being treated at the University Hospital Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Zirkle, of Summit County, Ohio; son, Glen LaPointe III of East Sparta, Ohio; grandchildren, Joshua, Vance, and Nikolas Zirkle; and his best friend, life companion, and full-time partner in life and work, Kelly S. Flower.
After schooling, Glen was drafted and served his duty and time with the United States Army, including a tour of duty in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After his time in the Army, Glen assisted his father in construction trades, later worked in trucking as both a driver and docker, and as an ultimate trader of all kinds of merchandise including firearms with his federal arms licensing. No doubt perhaps he is best known for his lifetime automotive talents and most recently his expertise, knowledge, and commitment as the owner and magician at “Glen’s Auto” located in Barberton, Ohio. He will be remembered and missed by his many friends, customers, acquaintances, business associates, and as always, the variety of his many walk-ins and visitors at the shop. Glen counted on upon and was grateful for the excellent services of the members of the Barberton Police Department, especially Sergeant Brian Davis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio, on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
