Donald G. Nott, 80, passed away peacefully August 16 after a brief illness. Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, JuneKaye (Larson) Nott, his parents, George Washington Nott and Violet (McClelland) Nott and several siblings. Don was born in Glouster, Ohio on February 13, 1938. His family moved to Barberton when he was young, and he was a resident of Barberton for over 70 years. He graduated from Barberton High School in 1956 and attended Bowling Green State University, majoring in Chemistry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Piedmont in the Pacific Ocean. While serving in the Navy, he was an optician apprentice and developed a talent for building telescopes. He was employed by B.F. Goodrich in Akron as a packaging designer until 1984 and then spent 27 years as the proprietor of The Corner Coffee Shop on the west side of Barberton. During his life, Don enjoyed refinishing furniture, coin collecting, gardening and meeting his friends for coffee and conversation. Instead of grieving his passing, Don wanted his family and friends to celebrate his life and share memories of him.
He is survived by his son, David (Kim) Nott of Cuyahoga Falls, his daughter, Maria (Richard) Robertson of Stow and his granddaughter, Bridget. He is also survived by his twin brother, Ronald, of Marion, his brother, George and sister, Barbara, of Barberton, his sister, Norma, of Citrus Heights, California and many relatives and dear friends.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 24 from 5:30-7:30pm at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Rd. Barberton. Interment will take place with full military honors on Tuesday, August 28 at 2pm at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville.
