George Armbruster

George “Pork” Armbruster, age 95, passed away March 23, 2017. He was born on September 8, 1921 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Stefan and Tireza (nee: Neubaur) Armbruster.

George was a loving father to five sons and three daughters.  He served during WWII from 1942-1945 with the U.S. Navy and retired from B&W with 48 years of service. He was a member at St. Augstine Parish, where he was active with the Holy Hour Program for over 50 years.  He was a volunteer for the World Series of Golf for over 30 years and was a member of numerous clubs including Sokol, VFW, Civitan, and whose family was one of the founders of the Leidertaffel. George enjoyed playing euchre with family and friends and walking around Lake Anna.

Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Alice who passed in 1983; son, Mark; brothers, Steve and Joe; and sister, Gertrude Frankovich.

Survived by children, George (Judith), Marilyn (Artie) Scholl, John (Catherine), Teresa (Mike) Kovacs, Paul (Terri), Stephen (Darlene) and Janice (David Sr.) Liddle; grandchildren, George (Susan), Eric, Bradley (Jessica), Tracy (David) Bloom, Johnny, Jennifer (Will) Clark, Kristy (Jack) Kuhn, Tamme (Bill) McConnell, Taylor, Michael and Mitchell Kovacs, Paul Jr. (Jennifer), Patrick (Jennifer), Lynn (Gabriel) Menc, Chantal, Rachel, David Liddle Jr., Adam (Jacqui) Liddle, Benjamin (fiancée Emily Pastva) Liddle, and Kevin and Fr. Jared Orndorff.

Great-grandchilren, George, William, Randall, Sarah, Alexandra, Presley, Ryleigh Armbruster, Spencer and Olivia Bloom, Jaxon and Lucas Clark, Summer Armbruster, Hayden and Alexandria Cooper, Alicen and Billy McConnell, Anthony and Ryan Armbruster, David Liddle III, Tristan, Luke and Cooper Liddle.

The family would like to thank Summa at Home Hospice, including Teresa Semitore and Vicki Hoffman, and caregivers, Tangela and Janice, for their care and support. Thank you for your love and compassion.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at10:00am on MONDAY, March 27, 2017 at St. Augustine Church, 204 6th Street NW, Barberton with Fr. Michael B. Smith and Fr. Jared Orndorff as celebrants. A procession will form at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home on Monday at 9:00am. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron, with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00pm on SUNDAY at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton.

Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Parish.
