Irene Seigfried

Irene Seigfried, age 89, of Barberton, Ohio, passed away December 15, 2018.

She was born in Akron on May 27, 1929. Irene grew up in Copley and spent most of her life in Barberton. Her Hungarian heritage carried her throughout life. She grew up in an ethnic neighborhood and enjoyed polka music and dancing. Irene had an outgoing personality, made friends easily, and her warm, welcoming smile was infectious and will be remembered by many.

Upon her retirement from Lorantffy Care Center in Copley as an STNA, she enjoyed traveling throughout the US, including Alaska and being a snowbird in Florida.

Irene was preceded in death by her father, Adam Heffner; mother, Frances (Popp) Haffner; and sister, Fran Kulchar. She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Gerta) Seigfrid, Robert (Debbie) Seigfried, Frank Seigfried, and John (Barb) Seigfried. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A special thank you to the caregivers at Greenfield Estates and Crossroads Hospice.

A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. A mass will be held in her memory at a later date. Because of her love of children, contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
