Joy Purdon Obituary

Joy Purdon passed away in the early morning hours of February 5, 2018. Born December 25, 1951 to the late Benjamin and Dorothy Smith, Joy was a graduate of Coventry High School. She met her husband of 39 years, John, while working in the accounting department at B.F. Goodrich. Joy lived for her faith and her family. She was passionate about making her home a welcoming haven, and took every opportunity to live up to her name by bringing joy to everyone she met. Joy was a member of Freshwater Community Church in Wadsworth, and loved participating in Bible studies and encouraging younger women. Joy is survived by her husband John, as well as daughters Kelly and Kerry Purdon, sisters Jane Smith and Deniece Turner, and brother Bryan Smith (Priscilla).

Funeral services will be held at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 1376 High St., Wadsworth, on Friday, February 9th at 12:00pm. The family will receive friends, THURSDAY February 8th from 5:00-7:00p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Akron.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Freshwater Community Church’s women’s ministries.
