Raymond Hartley Obituary

Raymond Leroy Hartley went home to be with the Lord July 10, 2019, comfortably in his home in Wadsworth with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer and illness.

Leroy was born in Moundsville, W.Va. April 2, 1938, to parents Clyde Hartley and Mary Anne McFadden, whom are preceding him in death. Also preceding are sister, Martha Bitner; brother, David Hartley; and his in-laws, James and Eileen Swigart.

Leroy was a hard-working husband, father and grandfather who spent most of his life working to provide for his family and loved ones. He retired from the City of Wadsworth, as well as Evision Waste. He enjoyed hunting trips with his son, bowling, playing poker with friends, playing video poker machines and most of all, he enjoyed the company of friends and family and engaging in a good conversation with someone. Leroy had a wonderful sense of humor and was always sure to bring a smile to your face, as well as a loving and generous heart, willing to help whoever he could, never expecting anything in return. Above all, Leroy was an amazing man, husband, father and grandfather with a heart full of love for his family and he will be greatly missed by his family.

Leroy leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Marcia Hartley; sons, Greg (Ilia), of Wadsworth, Steve (Jessica), of Mountain Home, Raymond, of Marshallville, and John; daughter, Darlene; as well as grandchildren, Raymond, Racheal, Kylie, Greg Jr., Shayne and Isabella; and great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Cougar; brother-in-law, Russ and Joanne Swigart; sister-in-law, Sandi and Gaylord McGeorge; numerous nieces and nephews; and best friend, Dave Garman.

Per his request, cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wadsworth Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm  with Chaplain Laura Kelly officiating.

The family would like to thank Akron General Hospice for all their love and support, and a special thanks to Lori Pagani, RN and Laura Kelly, Chaplain.
