Reverend Jack Walter Lyons (Little Eagle) 84, went to his heavenly home on January 22, 2019, with his family by his side in New Franklin, Ohio. He was born on May 20, 1934, in Letcher County, Kentucky to James and Ethel Lyon.
Mr. Lyons was a U.S. Marine Korean War Veteran serving from 1952-1961. In 1961 he was married to Pinkie Geneva Lyons in Hagerstown, Maryland. Mr. Lyons retired from the Electromelt Casting Company where he was employed as a Journeyman Molder. In 2000, he was one of the founding members of the Native American Indian and Veterans Center, where he served as the Executive Director from 2001-2008. He was an ordained minister, and an active church member of the Rittman South Main Street Church of God.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Pinkie, his son Jack Jr. and his wife Lori of New Franklin; his son Rod and his wife Theresa of Barberton; in addition, he leaves his seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, and several sisters.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Rittman South Main Street Church of God with Reverend Jeff Ball presiding. Memorial gifts in J.W. Lyons name can be made to the Rittman South Main Street Church of God 261 South Main Street, Rittman, Ohio 44270.
