Richard Long Obituary


Richard D. Long went to his heavenly home on August 15th, 2018. He was born in Wadsworth to Frances and Glen Long July 12th, 1932. He graduated from Norton High School in 1950. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Long (Truex). Richard lived in Norton until they were married in 1956. He was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Seville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Gregory Scott, brothers Dave and Roger, sister Jean, brother-in-law Berry McBride, brother-in-law, Jeff Grizzard, and sister-in-law Glena. He is also survived by his children Mark, Brent, and Lyn Marie; sister-in-law, Beverly Grizzard; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Richard enjoyed fishing and hunting, yet his passions were golf and carving wood ducks. He began his career in 1950 with IPI printing ink, which was bought and sold many times. After 50 years in the ink business, he retired from BASF and continued with BASF as a consultant after retirement.
The family would like to thank Great Lakes Caring Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
Calling hours will be at Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Seville Ohio on Tuesday August 21st from 6-8pm. The service will be held at the church the following day at 1pm on Wednesday August 22nd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or a charity of choice.
