Allan & Joyce Hlavka Obituary

Allan R. Hlavka, 76, passed away May 11, 2024.  Allan was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 7, 1948, to the late Leonard and Irene Hlavka.  Allan grew up in North Royalton, Ohio. Allan graduated from North Royalton High School in 1966.  He served in the Army from April 1968 until his Honorable Discharge in 1970.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce L. Hlavka (nee Flaugh).  Joyce, 77, passed away October 22, 2023. Joyce was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on January 18, 1946, to the late Jack and Ethel Flaugh.   She spent her childhood in Falls Church, Virginia and teen years in Middleburg Heights, Ohio where she graduated from Midpark High School.

Allan and Joyce wed in 1985 and settled in Lawrenceville, Georgia where they built their lives together with family and friends.  They served in church, took long walks, bird watched and enjoyed both family and professional baseball games.  They are survived by their children Sharon (Bruce) Keener, Scott (Debbie) Fuller, and Melissa (Jeremy) Shoemaker; grandchildren, Justin (Ruby) Keener, Jordan (Kyra) Keener, Ansley (Matt) Wilkins, Ally Shoemaker, Brayden Shoemaker, Ron Brettrager, and Tabitha Brettrager; great grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia, and Liam Keener, Jak and Rocco Keener, and Jaxson and Ally Scott.   Allan was a loving brother to Diane (Steven) Polasko, Bob (Joan) Hlavka, Peggy Hlavka (Bob Greene), Leonard (Joyce) Hlavka, Lori (Gary) Bryant and Ted (Leah) Hlavka. Joyce was a loving sister to her late sister Nancy (Don)and brother, Steven (Gloria).   Allan and Joyce were also a beloved uncle and aunt to Keith, Steven (deceased), Jennifer, Chad, Richie, James, Nicole, Jay, Erica, Diane, Perry, Emily and Lisa.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 21st from 11:00am – 12:30pm at Cox McNulty Funeral Home at 1376 High Street, Wadsworth, Ohio.  Services will begin at 12:30pm. Processional to the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio immediately following for 2:15pm military service.
