Alma Caron Gifford Obituary

Alma Caron Gifford, age 97, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She was born on September 20, 1926, in Salem, Massachusetts, to the late Wilfred and Madeline Caron.


Alma graduated from Salem High School and worked as an office administrator for many years in the North Shore area, including Untied Shoe, where she met, fell in love with, and married Art Gifford. They first moved to Florida, then Texas, and finally settled in Wadsworth, Ohio, in 1959, where they raised their family. She worked as a real estate agent in Wadsworth for over 20 years and was an active member of St. Mark’s Church.


In her free time, Alma enjoyed baking and, after retirement, traveled extensively to Europe, China, and on multiple cruises. She had a kind soul, warm smile, and remarkable memory, which she maintained until the very end.


Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Art. She is survived by her sister, Doris Jwanowski (nee Caron); her children: David (Jill) of Bath, Ohio, and Amy Ferrara (Mark) of Hubbard, Ohio. Her grandchildren include: Jordan, Emily, and Andrew “Drew” Gifford, Brittany James (Toby), and Nicholas “Nick” Ferrara. Alma also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Kylan and Luca James.


A private inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery next to her late husband. Additionally, a Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:30 PM on Friday, June 28, 2024, at the Western Reserve Masonic Community located at 4391 Nettleton Road, Medina, Ohio 44256. Donations in Alma’s name can be made either Crossroads Hospice or Habitat for Humanity of Medina.
