Andrew Berenyi, age 93, born in Akron, Ohio in 1932, passed away on December 23, 2025.
Andrew was a lifelong resident of Doylestown, Ohio, and a proud graduate of Doylestown High School, Class of 1950. A gifted athlete, he excelled in football, baseball, and basketball, lettering in all three sports during his high school years.
Following graduation, Andrew proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving aboard the USS Mount McKinley. After his military service, he began a long and dedicated career at PPG, where he worked as a licensed engineer for 34 years. After retiring from PPG, he continued working as the boiler operator at Massillon Psychiatric Center.
Andrew had a deep love for sports and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed football, golf, fishing, and horse racing, passions that brought him great joy throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Berenyi; his mother, Margaret Fillippi Sherman; his sister, Patricia Berenyi Schorle; his wife of 17 years, Jane Hinkle Berenyi; his wife of 32 years, Dawne Corbin Berenyi; his grandson, Casey James Gunn; and his nephew, John Berenyi.
Andrew is survived by his children, Andrew Berenyi Jr. (David Lester) and Rhonda Berenyi Gunn (Stephen); his grandchildren, Branden Gunn and Matthew Gunn (Anna); and his great-granddaughters, Casey Maria Gunn and Ezra Rene Gunn. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jill Berenyi; his niece, Pam Schorle Pollick; and his nephews, Frank, Robert, Ken, Tim, and Jim.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 30, 2025, at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, Ohio.
