Beth Ann Starcher (nee Karlen), 73, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and friends.


Beth was born on January 7, 1953, in Wooster, to the late Calvin and Miriam Karlen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Starcher, and her sister, Ila Stevik,


She is survived by her loving children, Derek Smetzer, Matthew (Karli) Starcher, and Joshua Starcher; her cherished grandchildren, Dylan Smetzer, Kourtnie Smetzer, Brandon Starcher, Madilyn Starcher, Jonathan Starcher, and Jenna Starcher; her sister, Eva (Ed) Christman; her brother, Jearl (Lisa) Karlen; and best friend, Sue Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will miss her dearly.


Beth was a proud graduate of Smithville High School, Class of 1971. She dedicated many years of service as a custodian with Northwest Schools, where she was known for her strong work ethic and warm spirit.


Beth lived a full and joyful life centered around her family, her faith, and the things she loved most. She had a deep love for music and could often by found playing the organ or enjoying concerts – especially The Rolling Stones. She found happiness in camping trips, vacations, and especially her cherished trips to Florida with her sister and brother-in-law.


Known as the life of the party, Beth had a gift for bringing people together. She loved cooking, hosting holiday gatherings, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. Above all, she treasured time spent with her three sons and adored her six grandchildren, whom she delighted in spoiling.


Beth’s love for Jesus was evident in the kindness, warmth, and joy she shared with others. Her presence lit up every room, and her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in all who knew her.


Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home in Barberton, Ohio. A procession will follow, and Beth will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville, Ohio.
