Betty Kay (Schmeltzer) McEwen Obituary

Betty Kay McEwen (nee Schmeltzer), age 76, passed away February 22, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 22, 1947 in Akron, Ohio.


She enjoyed crafts, camping, gambling, yardsaling, fishing and doing jigsaw puzzles. She was a Golden Age Member of Wadsworth Eagles Auxiliary #2117.


Betty is preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Kay McEwen; parents, Carl and Frances Schmeltzer; sister, Joceil (Gene) Drexler; and brother, Raymond Schmeltzer.


She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Timothy McEwen; daughters, Tammy (David) Daugherty of Uniontown, Brenda (Mike) Martin of Canal Fulton, and Michelle (Brian) Tinney of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Kaitlyn, Jarrod, Austin, Amber, Ashley, and Dawn; great-grandchildren, Madison, Mason, Mikayla, Colt, Conor, and Salem; brother, Carl “Butch” (Pat) Schmeltzer; sister, Carol Sue Runk; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Special thanks to Akron Summa Hospice for their excellent care of Betty.
