Betty Jean (Sheldon) Speck, age 100, passed away on June 30, 2021. A long-time resident of the Barberton/Norton area, she graduated from Barberton High School and spent close to 40 years working for the Seiberling Rubber Company, a career she began during World War II to help the war effort. She loved humming birds, flea markets, and sitting on her backyard swing. Kind and generous, she was always ready to send a thoughtful card or slip a $20 bill into an unsuspecting hand.
She goes to rest with many generations of her Sheldon kin, including her mother, father, and siblings. She is also preceded in death by her husband Basil Speck and daughter Nancy Woodford. She is survived by her niece Pat Dean and Pat’s sisters Sandy Carr and Kay Hardesty Jordan; son-in-law David Woodford; granddaughter Sarah Woodford; and grandson Matthew Woodford and his family.
A private graveside service is to be held.
