Carl Joseph Wright, Sr., 79, transitioned peacefully from this life to his reward in the arms of Jesus August 7, 2022. He battled severe disease for the last few years, but his faith and confidence never once waivered. He is perfectly healed and restored, reunited with his son, Carl Jr., parents Richard and Rosella, brothers Marvin and James Robert, sisters Lillian, Edna, and Joyce, great-grandson Van, and other loved ones who preceded him in death.
Born February 9, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, he grew up in “The Grove” in Coventry Township, OH and lived a modest and faithful Christian life. He is survived by Rebecca, the love of his life and wife of 59 years, son Richard (Maryann) Wright, daughters Teresa (Jim) Horvath and Vickie Wright, sisters Ruth Willard and Lois (Mike) Hill, grandchildren CJ Wright, Brandon Wright, Alex (Taylor) Horvath, Nathan (Rose) Sieker, Chris Sieker, and Julie Wright, great-grandchildren Ashton Horvath, Oliver Sieker, Margeaux Wright, and “more than a nephew” Ed (Tina) Wright.
He was a faithful founding member of Apostolic Church of Akron and lived his entire life as a godly example to his family and friends. After retiring from University of Akron he became a full-time Pappaw. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
Funeral service will be Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave, Barberton. Family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Private burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery in Akron.
