Charles J. Sopko Obituary

Charles J. Sopko departed for his heavenly home on March 23, 2024. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 17, 1934, to Catherine and Michael Sopko.


A carpenter by trade, he enjoyed woodworking and outdoor life.  His career was spent as a truck driver for Commercial Lovelace Motor Freight, retiring with 30 years of service. He was active in the Akron Chapter of the Ohio Country and Western Music Association.


Preceded in death by his wife Carol, to whom he was married 68 years. He is survived by sons, Charles (Kathy) Sopko, Craig Sopko, and daughter, Christi Beverlin; Grandchildren, Alisa (Derek) Herbert, Amanda (Aaron) Markwalder, Kimberly (Patrick) Dye, Tyler Beverlin, Nicholas (Sarah) Sopko, Jillian Sopko, and eight great grandchildren.


Following his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 28, 2024 at 5PM at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton, Ohio. Visitation will be from 3 PM until the service.  Inurnment at Manchester Cemetery.
