Charles "Chuck" Eldon Smith Jr.

Charles (Chuck) Eldon Smith Jr, 62 of Canton, OH, passed away December 17, 2021.

Born July 21, 1959, Chuck started his adventures in life at a young age. These adventures provided him with many wonderful stories he loved to share and life skills he passed on to those willing to learn.  Finally settling down in Norton, OH where he would spend the next 20+ years, he successfully started and ran several businesses living by the motto “work hard and play harder.”  

Chuck was a caring and patient father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, guiding his children and grandchildren to being the greatest version of themselves and “secretly” spoiling his great-grandson with suckers and cookies.

Chuck believed in working hard, being compassionate but firm, learning something from every situation, and taking care of others selflessly, sometimes not knowing when to say no, while never complaining.  He also believed in having fun and enjoying life for all it has to offer. From a thick cut, still mooing prime rib and an oversized kamikaze to fast cars taking him on roads unknown to a quiet time at home resting and resetting, Chuck made sure he lived his days fully and with a purpose.

Chuck leaves his daughters Frances Pasquarosa-Smith and Christina (Paul) Russell; son Jonathan (Caitlin) Desharnais; grandchildren Derrick, Justyce (Charlie), Christopher, Patience, Terrance, Skylar, Delilah, Jaxson, and Kaidence; great-grandson CJ; his honorary sisters and best friends Joy and Judith Snyder-Wagner; parents Charles Sr. and Juanita Smith; sister Michelle (Chris) Wolf; brothers Jeff (Laurie) Miller and Rick (Christine) Miller; and his 7 nephews.  Chuck is preceded in death by his soulmate Miriam, daughter Elizabeth, brother Tim and mother Virginia.

The family would like to thank the staff of Cleveland Clinic Hospice, in particular his nurse Julie and aides Marchelle, Philip and Byron, who helped his family make him comfortable and care for him. 

Due to Covid, the family has chosen not to have a service and is postponing a celebration of life until spring.
