Colin Leslie Whitwell

Colin Leslie Whitwell, aged 89 of Norton, Ohio passed away shortly before midnight on March 12th, 2020.  Colin was preceded in death by parents Leslie and Phyllis and granddaughter Alexandra. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth; by sister, Pauline (John); children, Stuart (Emily), Rodney (Juliann) and Sarah; grandchildren, Kenneth, Trevor, Masha and Olga; and great grandchildren, James, Jonathan and Andrew.

Colin was born and raised in Leicester, England, where he worked as a nuclear engineer. In 1970 he relocated his family to Brecksville, Ohio where he worked as a materials manager and as a realtor. In both England and in the United States Colin was also an accomplished designer and builder of luxury homes, completing many successful projects. In retirement, Colin settled in New Milton, England where he enjoyed coastal living in the New Forest area. Most recently, he returned to Ohio in order to spend more time with family.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Village of St. Edwards in Wadsworth, Ohio and to the staff of Summa Hospice, for the warmth and professional care they provided Colin in the last months of his life.  

The family will be conducting a private remembrance service and would like to encourage all well-wishers to contribute to the Alzheimer’s Association.
