Obituary

David L. Topper, age 84, passed away April 2, 2022. He was born in Akron, Ohio and was a 1955 of Greensburg High School. He attended the University of Akron and St. John Vianney Seminary. He was a Navy Veteran and owner of a grocery store and restaurant. He also managed several Avis Truck locations.

David’s faith in God was deepened with St. Bernard Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister, singing in the choir, being a reader, working with the homeless and as an usher. He also sang in the choir at Lockwood United Methodist Church. He loved working with patients at Akron General through the Chaplains Office and as a volunteer with Akron Civic Theatre. 


Preceded in death by his parents, Helen Topper and Daniel Dockus; he is survived by his son, David Marino Topper Jr.; cousin, Noreen McDonald; and friend, Pat Wernimont.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, May 13, 2022 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Ave, Akron. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the mass at 10:00 am. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron.
