Dewey Jenkins was born on March 26, 1930 in Akron, Ohio. He finished his journey through life on January 21, 2022.
Dewey loved God and his church, First Baptist Church. He also loved Freemasonry and all it had to offer. He was a 50 year Mason and also a 50 year member of Portage Chapter 202. He served National Lodge 568 as Worshipful Master twice (1979 & 2006); he served as District Deputy Grand Master for three years; he served the Valley of Akron as Thrice Potent Master in 1985 and Reunion Director for 18 years; he was cornetted a 33rd Degree Mason in 1993.
He loved camping, boating, water skiing, gardening and his beloved Sunday NASCAR races; he was Track Champion at the Barberton Speedway in 1955.
Dewey is survived by his three children, David Jenkins, Patty (Johnny) Knapp, and Jody Jenkins; 3 grandchildren, Janelle (Tim), Kristi, and Jessica; and 3 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie (Jake), Cameron & Tristan. He also leaves behind great friends, Gregg and Rae Mihal, Jim Moore, Bill & Crystal Cox, and Betty Golden.
A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00pm with the funeral service following on THURSDAY, January 27, 2022, at Barberton First Baptist Church, 254 6th St NW, Barberton. Pastor Mike Prebynski will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:30-7:00pm at the church. Dewey will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron.
