Dolores M (Rivers) Garner

Dolores Mary (Rivers) Garner went home to be with the Lord on November 20, 2019.  She was born in Wadsworth, OH to the late C.James and Odessa (Richardson) Rivers on August 21, 1935.  She graduated from Wadsworth Central High School. On September 29, 1962, she married Eligah Garner and made their home in Cleveland, OH.  

Dolores was a homemaker and loved to cook, sew and sing.  During her lifetime, she attended First Baptist Church of Wadsworth, Olivet Institutional Baptist Church and several other churches in Cleveland, OH.  She had a very beautiful voice which she used to the glory of God.  She sang with Earl Preston and the Prestonians and sang with her brother and sisters in many places in Ohio churches.  She enjoyed having Vacation Bible School with the neighborhood children, and sharing the good news of Jesus to whoever she encountered.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Eligah, sons, Sheldon Rivers and Wendell Garner; grandson Jason Garner; and brothers Linton, Raymond and Timothy Rivers.  She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Nathaniel Garner; daughters, Denise Young, Rosiland Coles, Patricia (Dwight) Jermott, Jewell Garner, and Quinetta Garner; brothers, James Rivers and Leroy (Brenda) Rivers; sisters, Elizabeth Robinson, Roberta Rivers, Zipporah (Stan) King, Karen Rivers, Sandra Dunbar, Charlotte (Stanley) Davis, Judy Sykes and 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 6 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Memorial Service was celebrated at Higher Ground Worship Center, Barberton, OH.
