Donald R. Byers passed from this life into the arms of Jesus, September 27,2020 due to an abdominal aneurysm.
Born in Akron, Don never met a stranger and will be remembered by many for that quick smile and distinctive laugh.
As a young man, Don worked for Seiberling Rubber and was a star softball pitcher in Akron's Industrial League. Later, he founded Mark Oil Company and spent many years as an Independent Service Station owner at the corner of "route 8 & 224" . After the corner was sold to developers, Don finished his work career as a Teamster and Dairy Worker for Lawson Milk Company. Upon retirement, Don found great satisfaction as the family Patriarch and fix it man. If you needed your car worked on, a water heater installed or a garage door fixed, Don was your 'go to guy'. In recent years, he developed a passion for art and completed many projects in colored inks and pencils.
Don had a great faith and was an active participant in the Men's Bible Study group at Grace Bible Church in New Franklin.
Leaving behind to mourn his passing is wife of 74 years, Neva Irene; children Danny (Kathy) Byers, Kimberly (Paul) Zenner and Mark Byers. "Gramps" also leaves grandchildren Daniel J. (Alison) Byers and Matthew B. Brindley; and great-grandchildren Alexandra and Drew Byers.
"Uncle Donnie" also leaves an extended family of nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by Kelli, Mandy, Samantha, and Tucker.
