Durrell "Dink" R. Davis Obituary

Born in Barberton, OH in 1939, Durrell "Dink" Davis grew up on Wadsworth Road in Norton and is a 1959 graduate of Norton High School. In 1958, he was the Beacon Journal All Star in football. He met his sweetheart Donna in 1960, marrying in 1962 and having 3 children over the next 7 years: Kevin, Eric & Audra, all Norton graduates.



Dink was a volunteer fireman/EMT for Norton for more than 20 years and a Prudential agent for 25 years, and a Norton policeman in the 60’s. After retirement, he became a driver for SARTA and Old Trail School.



Dink was a wonderful husband, fun and outgoing, loving to dance with his sweetheart. His kids think the world of him and remember many family vacations like Ocean City, MD and Myrtle Beach, SC.



Dink leaves behind his wife Donna, brother Randy of Delaware, son Kevin (Monica), son Eric, daughter Audra, sister-in law Sherry (Jim) and brother-in-law Ronnie both of Arizona, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters.



Dink was proceeded in death by his father “Buck”, mother Virginia, brother Jack, his mother and father in-law Dottie & Shorty Hathaway and his beloved Sugar Bear.



Dink endured with Dementia for 9 years, and suddenly had lung cancer, passing away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 with his family by his bedside.



Services to be held at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home on Norton Avenue in Barberton, with visiting hours on Monday, November 24, 5-7pm and graveside services Tuesday, November 25 2pm at Greenlawn Memorial in Akron.
