Elizabeth Wemmer

Elizabeth Wemmer (89), Matriarch of the Wemmer family passed away on May 20, 2021.

Born September 24, 1931 she was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2011, sister Mary Ann Borger-2009 & brother George Tomko-2008. Her vivacious and caring spirt lives on in her 6 sons: Bob (Deb), Patrick (Sue), George, Joe, Tony, Scott (Frani), daughter Sue, 25 grandchildren, 31g/gch., 5gg/gch., brother Hank Tomko and countless extended family. 

“Meeting Bob at Chippewa Lake Park was the best day of my life”, she often remarked. After a two-year courtship they married on May 29, 1952 and immediately began raising a family on Chestnut St. in Wadsworth.  For over a half a century that home was overflowing with love, excitement and chaos.

Liz will be remembered for her loving, kind heart that could not find fault in anyone.  Her passion was a love for children.  Not only did she raise her kids but also baby sat her grandkids and a multitude of other generational children. 

Elizabeth and Bob had a huge contingent of friends that impacted the Wemmer family.  Vivid memories in our hearts will include the large gatherings in that tiny house, the campfires and volleyball games, her singing, card playing, crescent rolls, open arms, quick wit and yes, even her practical jokes. She leaves us with a rich legacy of love.

Her ashes will be interlaced with Bob’s at Western Star Cemetery.
