Emma Corrine Hooks Obituary

Ms. Emma Corrine Hooks, born February 7, 1931, to Mrs. Emma Ruth and Thomas Nelson. From this union, 10 children were born with Emma being the eldest. 


In 1950, she married Lee Roy Hooks and from this union 10 children were born.


Ms. Emma enjoyed serving Jehovah. She was a devote member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s witnesses since 1968. She enjoyed preaching and teaching from the scriptures. She also worked 33 years for Pleasant View Nursing and Rehab as a nursing assistant and 30 years at Shady Rest Nursing facility, retiring at 80 years young.


Ms. Emma’s life was Jehovah, her children, her siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She enjoyed crafts, crochet, cooking and being a member of Jehovah’s organization. 


She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma Ruth and Thomas Nelson; siblings: Lily, Kathleen, Mabel, Neil and Thomas; children: Roy Lee, Terrance Douglas (Marilyn), Rose Mary, Brenda Jean, Corrine Renae, Mary Elizabeth and Sheila Norene.


She leaves to cherish her memory children: Marie (Thomas) Ailes, Anthony (Camille) Hooks, Timothy (Elonda) Hooks, and Terri Lynn Golden ; 4 siblings: Joseph (Jean) Nelson, Clint (Linda) Nelson, John (Adrienne) Nelson and Willa (Edwin) Jackson; her grandchildren: Corrine Hooks, Daymond Hooks, Chaunte (Benjamin) Watts, Thomas Clifford Ailes, Jr., Ashley Ailes, Ter’Shay Beasley, Stephanie Palmer, Tanqee (Dante) Anderson, Jamilla (Brandon) Houston, Anthony Hooks II, Malachi Cheatham Hooks, D’Shawna Hooks, Thaddeus (Midori) Ingol, Timothy Hooks, Jr., Brion Johnson, Brianna Johnson, Sylvia Amos, Marcus Swan, Jr., Musa Swan and Kunta Swan; also 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


We want to thank everyone for their prayers and care for our mother. 


Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio, immediately followed by the funeral service. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
