Francis Dean Claar, passed away April April 21, 2020. He was born on July 10, 1935 in Akron, Ohio to parents, Earl and Edith Claar. He had a sister, Zelma; and brothers Dayton and Harold Ickes.
He worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber, Enterprise Aluminum as a shipping clerk, and was a self- employed painter. Dean loved gardening, animals, and his greatest accomplishment was building his own house. He would go to the library and read up on how to build a house. He was a faithful member of the Apostolic Church of Barberton and loved meeting some of the men from church for breakfast every Saturday morning. In his younger years he tried learning to fly a plane, and had fun with his friends from his neighborhood. He married Edna Wright on December 14, 1952. When they were able, Dean liked to travel with his wife to Florida and their favorite place, Caryville, Tennessee. He was always making some kind of joke or laughing and made other people laugh.
He is survived by his daughter, Vickey (Ron) Viles; grandson, Justin Viles; son, Wayne Claar; grandchildren Jesse Claar, Brian Claar, Brandy Claar, Amelia Rupert, and Tiffany Claar.
He will be remembered as a quiet and gentle person.
Private Services will be held for the immediate family.
