Garland David Viovode, 66, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, after a prolonged battle with several medical complications.
He was born January 1, 1959, and was the second baby born in Cleveland that year.
Gary was an avid chess player, who lost very few chess matches against his opponents.
In his early thirties, he donated a kidney to his sister, Sharon. He also aided his mother throughout the last years of her life. When he was younger, he was employed in various phases of the housing construction industry.
Survived by brother, William Valentine; nephews, Nicholas Jelenic IV, Thomas Jelenic, and Thomas Jelenic II.
Preceded in death by parents, Valentine and Eleanor; and sisters, Karen Viovode and Sharon Jelenic.
Family will receive friends Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 1376 High Street, Wadsworth, Ohio, 44281. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Graveside service will be Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Hope Memorial Gardens, 2447 Center Road, Hinckley, Ohio 44233.
