Gerald Martin Beorn, age 83, of Wadsworth, Ohio, passed away at Medina Hospital on Monday, April 7, 2025. Born on January 13, 1942, in Akron, Ohio, he was a resident of Wadsworth for the last 53 years. He graduated from Ellet High School in 1960 and was an Airforce Veteran, serving as a Morse Code Operator from 1960 – 1963.

Gerald was a pipefitter for Goodyear for 38 years. He served in his church, Bethany Friends, as an elder, treasurer and Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. Gerald especially loved to study and teach the Bible, slowly walking through every verse of every book in his class, filling 66 notebooks with his meticulous notes on each book. 

In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing softball and bowling, in which he won many trophies. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Guardians on TV and occasionally attending a game. Gerald was a Star Trek fan and an avid reader, filling many bookshelves with mystery and suspense novels, as well as books about the Bible and Christian life. He loved long hours on his riding mower and especially loved pulling his grandkids behind him in a wagon. 

Gerald is survived by his wife, Rebecca. June 5 would have been their 60th anniversary. He is also survived by his three sons: Timothy (Shari) Beorn of Akron, Ohio, Charles (Melissa) Beorn of Monroe, Ohio and Andrew (Sandra) Beorn of Chardon, Ohio; his grandsons: Nikolas Beorn and Adam Beorn; his granddaughters: Samantha Beorn, Whitney Beorn, Emma Beorn, Megan Beorn, Lucy Beorn and Maggie Beorn; his sister, Sharon Hiles; and many other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Violet.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bethany Friends Church, 8127 Wadsworth Road, Wadsworth, Ohio 44281. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Friends Church with an interment following at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio 44273.
