Harley "Lee" VanHorn Obituary

Harley “Lee” VanHorn passed away on Saturday, March 8th at home surrounded by friends and family following a lengthy illness. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed by all who knew him.

He was born in Barberton, Ohio on August 27th, 1949 to the late Harley and Martha VanHorn. Lee graduated from Kenmore High School, class of ‘67 and served in Vietnam in the US Army.

A hardworking man, Lee had a gift for fixing anything and took pride in his ability to solve problems with his hands and his heart. Though he lived a life of modest means, he had a generous heart, always willing to lend a hand or share what he had with those in need. Whether it was his time, his skills, or his last dollar, he gave selflessly, never seeking recognition—only the joy of helping others.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Harley Harper VanHorn; mother, Martha Mabel VanHorn (nee Kennedy); sister, Sharon Bolin (VanHorn), and brother, W. Terry VanHorn.

He is survived by his son, Daniel VanHorn (Amanda); daughter, Kelly (Phil) Frey (nee VanHorn); grandchildren, Brittany VanHorn, Tristin VanHorn (Elexus), and Logan VanHorn (Kyleigh); great-grandchildren, Riley VanHorn, Cainin VanHorn, and Emmet VanHorn; sister, Brenda Crenshaw (nee VanHorn); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

While there will be no formal funeral, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite veterans' charity in Lee's honor.
