Harry F. Palmer III passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on March 21, 1967 to Harry Jr. and Linda Palmer.
Harry loved spending his younger days at Edgewood Park playing basketball until the streetlights came on. (West Side is the Best Side!!) He never let us forget that he was the esteemed champion of the 6th grade spelling bee at Santrock Elementary.
Harry had a strong work ethic. His dad would get him and his brother up early to clean the house and maintain the yard. He and his brother also delivered papers for the Messenger and Akron Beacon Journal, winning awards and pins. He always had a job, taking great pride in whatever he was doing.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1988, serving in Germany, Georgia, Korea, Texas, and Kuwait. Harry was a Sergeant when he was honorably discharged in 1997. He was very proud of his service in the Army, and he supported all branches of the military.
Harry loved all genres of music, it was his “therapy.” He was a die hard Cleveland sports fan (there’s always next year), and he loved the Buckeyes. He was also very proud of achieving one of his bucket list moments when he did a tandem sky dive jump in 2020.
Harry loved yard work and just to sit outside and chill with his family and the “17th street gang.” He dearly loved his family and friends.
Harry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Susan (Williams); and his son Bryan Palmer, daughter-in-law Mea, and Bryan’s stepson Seirys, who was like a grandson to Harry. He is also survived by mother, Linda Palmer (Groff); sister, Laurie Rawlings; brother, Doug (Beth) Palmer; sister, Kathy Palmer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harry F. Palmer Jr.; and brother-in-law Don Rawlings.
Harry, as we say goodbye, we thank you for your service and we give a salute to a life well lived but cut too short. We love you and will miss you but will continue to think of you fondly as we yell “Go Tribe!!” Prost!! (Cheers!!)
