James Eltzroth Obituary

James L. Eltzroth, 89, passed away June 23, 2018 at Doylestown Health Care Center after several years of declining health. He was born March 23, 1929 in Wilmington, OH to Ralph and Esther (McDonald) Eltzroth.

He graduated from Port William High School and Ohio Northern University, Ada, OH.  He was a former member of Port William Lions Club.  After years of employment at Allis Chalmers, he established Scranes Inc., where he modified heavy machinery.  After retirement he volunteered doing Lay Leader Ministry at area nursing facilities for several years.

James is survived by his wife of 69 years, Freda Coleen (Young); sons, Michael of Berkeley, CA and Kerry of Espanola, NM; daughters, Pamela (Rick) Lackey of Wilson, NC and Penny (Jim Dombroski); step-granddaughters, Cameron (Phillip) Heck and Melanie (Kent) Raynor; four step-great grandchildren all of NC; sister, Julia Ann (Fred) Summers; and brother, Karl (Linda) Eltzroth both of Wilmington, OH. 

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Russell Eltzroth.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Wadsworth United Methodist Church, 195 Broad St., Wadsworth, OH  44281 with Pastor Don Ebert officiating.  Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Seville, OH.  Family will receive friends from 11-12 prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wadsworth United Methodist Church or ALS Association, Northern Ohio Chapter, 6155 Rockside Rd., Suite 403, Independence, OH  44134.
