James A, Price Jr. was born in Cleveland on August 10, 1954. He joined the Army in 1975 and
served in Oklahoma until 1978 when he was honorably discharged. James attended college in
Oklahoma earning an associate degree and once he moved back to Ohio, he worked at the
Summit County Fiscal Office retiring with 30 years service.
James was very interested in local government.This interest led him to win an at-large council
seat in the City of Norton. He was a councilman for eight years including a stint as Norton’s
mayor during that time.
James was a perfectionist when it came to playing the bass. He loved music and loved to play
music for others. James was a member of the Grace Church worship team playing at the Bath,
Norton and Barberton campuses for many years.
James had a wide range of interests from gardening to camping to coins to musical equipment
and to sports, just to name a few.
James coached high school and youth football. He also coached youth baseball and T-ball.
He is survived by his wife Christy, sons James Price III and Justin Price, brothers Robert Price,
Jeffrey Price, Eric Price and sister Denise Price, mother-in-law Lois Brown, sisters-in-law Sheryl
Symons and Sandra Roeske. Also surviving are three beloved grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his parents James and Mildred Price and six siblings.
Visitation and services will be on Tuesday, July 26th beginning at 4 pm. Cox and McNulty
Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave, Barberton.
