James Yankovich Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of a truly incredible man, with many loved ones and friends that will miss him so much, James “Jimmy” Yankovich born in Barberton January 26, 1960 age 61. Jimmy passed away suddenly on March 17, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Barberton and graduated from Barberton in 1978. He was employed at Nelson Corporation for 24 years as a Sales Consultant. His top priority was to always be a very dedicated and loving father. He loved working outdoors, watching sports, cookouts with family and friends. Jimmy had the best personality of anyone you will ever meet. Laughing, joking and just being silly. He always had a smile on his face and would crack up everyone he met.  He had strong Slovenian roots and an amazing spirit with moral values-- and he wasn’t afraid to tell you about it either.

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph R. and Jeannette M. Yankovich; He is survived by his children, David Michael J. Yankovich and Marissa Lynn Yankovich; his four siblings, Joseph Martin, Yankovich (Amy), Janet Cevasco (Dave), Joann Byrd (Al Kralik), Jack Alan Yankovich (Pam); nieces and nephews, Shannon Szittai (Paige Jeannette and Kylea Szittai), David Cevasco (Kimberly and Colin), Alexandra Yankovich, Austin Yankovich; and his aunt, Phyllis Grum.

The family would like to thank John Hogue at Nelson Corporation and the Emergency Services for the extreme efforts the day Jimmy passed.

Jimmy’s wishes were for his friends and family to celebrate his life and send him to heaven the way he enjoyed living- casual and with laughter. His first wish was to be shot out of a cannon if he passed he “jokingly mentioned”- a little insight on his sense of humor.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm, with a service at 7:00pm, on Monday March 22, 2021 at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave. in Barberton.  In honor of this great man and his unique sense of humor, we ask you to visit the services wearing your favorite sports attire and a ball cap.
