John "Fred" A. McMillan 63 years old of Norton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly January 27, 2020. He was born February 4, 1956 to Edward and Mary (Morgan) McMillan. Fred was a skilled Glazer by trade and a proud member and former Vice President of Local Union # 1162 in Akron.
Fred's #1 loves in life were his wife Becky, his family and of course his best bud Wingfoot. He enjoyed all family time spent together but his greatest joy was spending time with the grandchildren and attending their many activities. He and Becky loved traveling to visit family and friends while spending time at the family farm in Big Flint, West Virginia. He was an avid hunter and looked forward to his annual deer hunt there. Fred also talked often of the trip he and Becky took with their family touring the beauty of the western USA. He loved games of chance and was tagged “unstoppable” by some who played Euchre with him. Sports were another favorite in Fred’s life, he liked all sports and knew the games well. Fred was rarely seen without wearing his “3” hat in honor of his NASCAR idol Dale Earnhart, Sr. In the past few years Fred spent many hours in his barn tinkering on projects and refurbishing memories. We are saddened that he left us so suddenly, but our hearts are comforted knowing we will join him one day.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary McMillan. He leaves on this earth his loving wife Becky, stepsons Lewis (Jeanie) and Clint (Michell), 5 granddaughters, 1 grandson and 1 great grandson. Along with his brother Eddie, his sister, Kitty Lowe, nieces Kara and Karla (Ray), his Florida family and a host of extended family and friends.
In abiding by Fred's wishes there will be no funeral service. Please feel free to reach out to the family to extend your condolences.
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to Fred, but we are so glad he left us with such precious memories and more importantly that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was a Christian.
