Jon Howard Boedicker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2025, at the age of 83, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1942 in Akron, Ohio, to Zella and Howard Boedicker, Jon spent his early years in Norton before his family moved to a farm in Seville. There, he nurtured a deep connection to the land, raising cattle and embracing the values of hard work and dedication.
A man of many talents, Jon’s passion for music resonated through the strings of his bass guitar, bringing joy to those around him. His sharp mind and exceptional mechanical skills led to a distinguished career as an engineer in the rubber industry, retiring from Firestone after many years of service. Jon’s commitment to his community shone brightly as a firefighter, first in Rittman, Ohio, and then for over 30 years as a part-time firefighter with the Seville Fire Department, where his courage and selflessness left a lasting impact.
Jon’s hands were always at work, and his love for restoring Allis Chalmers tractors brought vintage machines back to life with remarkable care. Known for his ingenuity, he could fix anything, often with just the tools and materials in his garage, a testament to his resourcefulness and creativity.
Above all, Jon was a man of boundless love and generosity, perhaps the least selfish person one could know. His devotion to his family was the heart of his life. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 46 years, Laura Boedicker; his daughter, Ann (Paul) Ratay; his son, Adam Boedicker; his three step-sons, Eric Kirvel, Adam Kirvel, and Brent Kirvel; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and friends who will forever hold his warmth in their hearts.
A private celebration of life will be held to honor Jon’s extraordinary legacy. His spirit—kind, resourceful, and endlessly giving—will live on in the countless lives he touched. Rest in peace, Jon, surrounded by the love of family, knowing you made the world a better place.
