Joseph “Joe” John Vrabcek, 95, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022, at Summa Hospital Hospice after a brave 5-year fight with Alzheimer’s and a brief illness. Preceded in death by his parents, Anna (Billy) and John Vrabcek; Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 73 years, Victoria May (Rothermel), children Susan Vrabcek Smith (Eric), Michael Joseph Vrabcek (Adrianne), and grandchildren Rachel Elizabeth McGowan and Courtney Ann Smith, along with friends and relatives.

Joe served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman, First Class; returning home to graduate from Barberton High School in 1947. He was in the window business and moved with his new bride to Richmond, VA, where they lived for ten years before returning to live in Cuyahoga Falls, eventually retiring in Barberton.  Joe was a true craftsman; there was nothing he couldn’t fix or build. He took pride in his family, home and cars. He and Victoria were devoted to each other, and for the last year and a half lived together in the Memory Care Unit at The Village of St. Edward’s; Green campus. The family thanks St. Ed’s and the dedicated staff who cared for him.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 12:30-1:30 pm at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave, Barberton. Committal with full military honors will follow at 2:45 pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org
