Linda K. (Roberts) Mattern

Linda K. Mattern (Roberts) of Wadsworth, OH passed away after a prolonged illness on October 24, 2023.  Linda was born in Glade View, WV on June 6, 1950 to Charles Fredrick and Daisy Delilah Roberts.  Her family moved to Wadsworth when she was young and then to Seville.  She married John Mattern in 1970 and had their only son Jeff Mattern later that same year.

Linda was exceptionally creative and avid artist who painted and sketched hundreds of pictures throughout her life.

Before her illness, Linda served in the Medina County Sheriff’s Department mounted unit for 11 years with her husband and their two horses Capreece and Monty.

Linda was a true explorer, always ready for the next adventure.  She loved horseback riding, camping, travelling, spending time at the beach, riding dirt bikes in the yard, and flying in her father and son’s airplanes. Most of all, Linda doted on her family and loved spending time with her son Jeff (Meg) and grandchildren Zach (Hallie), Alex, and Brooke.

In her youth, Linda attended the Seville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and saw her son Jeff and daughter-in-law Meg married. Later in life, due to her illness, she remotely attended Grace CMA church in Middleburg Heights.

Linda’s faith was evident and shown throughout her personality. She touched countless lives with her love, smile, and many stories.  All who met her fell in love with her. In life, Linda leaned on the Lord in prayer to provide the needs of her family and keep them safe.  As her health declined, she leaned on God for her daily strength and held to Christ’s promises of a better life to come.

Linda is preceded in death by her mother Daisy, father Charles Fredrick Roberts, brothers Gary and Michael (Bucky) Roberts, and sister Sharon Maynard. She is survived by her husband John, son Jeff (Meg), brother Roger (Pat) Roberts, and grandchildren Zachary (Hallie), Alexander, and Brooke Mattern.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday October 30th from 5:00 – 7:00pm with funeral services to be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday October 31st at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home 1376 High St. Wadsworth, Ohio.
