Lucy Margaret Banks/Sansosti, a devoted wife and mother passed away peacefully at the age of 92. She was born to Zita and Joseph Thesing as one of 12 children and remained a lifelong resident of Barberton. Lucy was a devout member of St. Augustine Church.
Lucy's life was marked by tenacity and strength of character. She experienced the loss of two husbands, Frank Banks, and Nick Sansosti, as well as her son, Chuck Banks. She is survived by eight loving children, Barb, Frank, Andy, Zita, Peggy, Mary, Ann, and Kenny, as well as 22 grandchildren and over 30 great and great-great-grandchildren.
As a matriarch, Lucy's commitment and devotion knew no bounds. She considered her role as a homemaker and caregiver to be her lifelong passion and calling, rather than a mere default career. She raised her children and grandchildren with love, perseverance, and unwavering dedication, even when faced with difficult circumstances.
Lucy's older brother, Chuck, described her as a "saint" for raising her nine children after the untimely death of her first husband, Frank. Our entire family agrees wholeheartedly that Lucy's determination, strength, and loving nature will always be remembered and celebrated by those who knew her.
Her legacy of love, sacrifice, and resilience will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her for years to come.
The family will receive friends, TUESDAY, April 18, 2023, from 5:00-7:00pm at Cox- McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on WEDNESDAY at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 6th Street NW, Barberton. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
