Marjorie “Margie” Elizabeth Melton was born on April 1, 1932, in Barberton, OH to the late Sidney and Edith McClure. On May 22, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Margie was rejoined with her beloved husband of 49 years, the late Kenneth E. Melton, as she was called home by our Lord.
Margie is survived by the devoted Jim McFarland who was like a son to them; her loving sisters: Dolores “Mickey” Jones (the late Vernon) of Seven Devils, NC and Carolyn Basler (the late Clyde) of Cincinnati, OH; dear sister-in-law Sue (the late Lynn) Meyers of Barberton, OH.
In addition, she was the cherished aunt of nieces: Keri Sporing (Bill) of Cincinnati, OH, Leigh Sasse (the late Brady), of Seven Devils, N. C. and Debbie Warner (Doug) of Wadsworth, OH; and nephews: Gregg Jones of Seven Devils, Rick Melton (Sue) of Akron, OH., Vincent “Vinny” Sporing of Cincinnati, OH the late Robert Shoemaker, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Phoenix, AZ; the treasured great-aunt of great-nieces: Emmeline “Emmy” Burnett (Jason) of Goshen, OH, Melissa Witte (Chris) of Denver, CO, Amanda Williams of Wadsworth, OH and great-nephews: Robert “Mac” McClure Shoemaker IV, of North Hollywood, CA., Steven Warner of Wadsworth, OH and the late William “Will” Ard III; and the dear great-great-aunt of Gavin (Alayna) Burnett, Alexander “Alex”, Caleb, and Levi Burnett , Topher Witte and Kennedy Williams.
Margie was a proud employee of AT&T from where she retired after 31 years of service. Her time there allowed her to forge lifelong friendships for which she was grateful. Margie loved the Lord and found strength and solace in her deep-rooted faith. She was a member of The Akron Baptist Temple where she and her family attended for over 80 years. Beyond her church, she was a member of the Pioneer Club, Eastern Star – Jeanette Chapter 212, and the Starlight Circle. Margie enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews and cherished the lasting memories made with them. Her beautiful home was a testament to her skill in decorating; every corner radiated with warmth and charm. Margie also enjoyed gardening and maintaining beautiful flowers. In her leisure time, she often found herself immersed in a good book or creating a lovely cross-stitch. She also found great joy in traveling, shopping, and dining with friends. She will be missed tremendously by all blessed enough to have known her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30th during calling hours from 11:00am-1:00pm with funeral service following immediately at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, OH 44203. Pastor Dallas Billington officiating.
