Martha Jane (Foreman) Petersen

Martha Jane Petersen, age 87, of Edgewater, Florida and Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio died November 11, 2022 after a lengthy illness.   

She was born May 23, 1935 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lillard Mason Foreman and Martha Lois Foreman.   Martha is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Harvey Merle Petersen who passed away in 2014 and great-grandson Eoghan Nevarez.   

Martha graduated from East High School in Akron Ohio as well as Akron University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in English.  Married at the time of graduation, she settled in Sharon Center where she raised her family and engaged in a host of volunteer activities.  Martha embraced the “snowbird” lifestyle, travelling between Edgewater, Florida and Lakeside, Ohio in her later years while continuing to volunteer and be active in the United Methodist Church.   

Martha will be greatly missed by her children, Harvey Richard Petersen of Edgewater, FL, Margaret Dobson (John) of Galion, OH, and Jean Turner (Scott) of Ridgecrest CA.  Also mourning her passing are grandchildren Kathryn Moran (Jason Purcel), Harvey Raymond Petersen (Maxine), Sarah Nevarez, Kevin Dobson (Desere), Katelyn Dobson and Michael Moran as well as great-grandchildren Lily, Dakota, Aria, Connor, Madeline, Aoife and Audrey.   

Visitation will be held at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home in Wadsworth, Ohio, on 11/18/2022 at 10:00 AM where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow immediately at Sharon Center Cemetery, Sharon Center, Ohio.  The family is so thankful to the staff at Mansfield Place in Mansfield, Ohio for their care of Martha in her final years.  The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or Mansfield Place, www.enlivant.com .  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Cox-McNulty.com .
