Mary Rose Demetroff (August) a.k.a "GMA", 94 years young, lived in Barberton Ohio.  Mary saw the New Year come in and passed away on January 1, 2023.  Mary is survived by her sons, Mike Demetroff (Denise), Jim Demetroff (Faith).  

 

Mary adored her four grandchildren, Melissa (Demetroff) Watson (Dave), Carl “Chico” Demetroff (Jacquelyn), Sara Demetroff (Andrew Slack), and Justin Demetroff (Heather)

Mary treasured her seven Great Grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas, Isaac, Annie Rose, Leo, Niko, and Olivia Isla Rose.

 

Mary blessed her Great Great Granddaughter Nova Rose with her loving arms and welcomed her to the world.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her late husband Carl Demetroff, her Sister Betty Lobdell, her Brother Frank August and her brother Steven August.

 

Mary’s career was at Babcock and Wilcox for 40 years.  Mary was a member of the women’s auxiliary at the VFW Post 3383 and the women’s auxiliary at the Liedertafel in Barberton.

 

Mary would drop what she was doing to help anyone in need. Mary would also stop what she was doing and go on a weekend trip with her friends, or go visit family, she kept her bag halfway packed!

 

Mary would workout at the Barberton Natatorium and Barberton YMCA at 5 am during her retired years, making friends in the pool...they had a club, "The bare butt club!"

 

Mary was known for going on bus trips with friends, or anywhere that would let her gamble and play the nickel slots.  She really liked pull tab tickets too!

 

Mary liked to read, bake, crochet, watch crime shows, loved watching figure skating, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, but DO NOT interrupt “her story”, The Bold and the Beautiful or The Young and the Restless.

 

Forever grateful to the nurses, nurses aides, social workers, laundry lady that she loved to give a piece of candy to, and therapists, at Manor Care/Promedica for caring for her, giving her books, letting her volunteer in therapy to stuff folders.

 

Mary," Mom, Gma, Aunt, Great Grandma", will be missed by her family.  We love you, Mary!
