Mary Catherine "Kay" Ondrik, age 84, of Wadsworth, Ohio passed away at Altercare of Wadsworth on April 24, 2021. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late John and Margaret Pasek. Kay graduated from St. Joseph's High School in the Diocese of Pittsburgh. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Barberton for many years.
Kay always fondly remembered attending Pittsburgh Pirates games with her father as a child, and she and her husband were Pittsburgh Steelers fans. She loved shopping, especially for shoes, and she never met a dog she didn't like. She enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds in her front lawn, and she left pans of water out for the animals. Donating to charities to aid the poor and homeless, as well as to countless animal rescue and animal rights organizations, was a priority to her.
Surviving are sons John (Debi) and Jim; daughter Kathy (Bob) Shafer; grandchildren Matt Ondrik, Nacole Fowler, and Rochelle Hunger; step granddaughter Tasha Shafer; great grandchildren Olivia Ondrik and Alex Marcum; and step great granddaughters Charlie Nixon and Iverson DiSanza. Kay was predeceased by husband Andy, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, and baby daughter Margaret Ann.
The family would like to thank Summa Health at Home and Altercare of Wadsworth for all the care they provided Kay during her last four months of declining health.
There will be a private memorial service at the Cox-McNulty Funeral Home Wadsworth facility, after which Kay will join her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
Kay would be grateful for donations to your favorite animal rescue and animal rights organizations.
