Mary Ruth Richey, 97, went home to be with the Lord, her Savior, July 31, 2018.
She was born in Kenmore to the late Eugene S. & Beulah Boatwright Parham. Preceded in death by loving husband Robert H. Richey, brother J Franklin Parham, sisters Kathleen (Dale) Winters and Ruby Jean Parham. First husband Roy Schurman, infant sons David and Timothy and Apache foster daughter Mary Ann Winters.
Leaves behind stepdaughter Gail (David) Miller, stepson Gary (Marilyn) Richey. Also has 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren here in Ohio and Missouri. Cousin Jack (Jill) Hazen from Canton, who was close to her and made her day when they visited.
After graduating from Southeastern University, Ruth had a rich, full life serving the Lord as a missionary to the Indians for 7 years in Arizona. Then moving back to Akron to teach at Akron Christian and Massillon Christian schools until her retirement. She was very involved at her home church, Kenmore Community Church of the Nazarene, teaching and serving.
Funeral service will be Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Cox-McNulty Funeral Home, 222 Norton Ave., Barberton with Pastor Terry Passmore officiating. Family will receive friends from 11-12 prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.
